Position Overview

You will work closely with analytics teams, stakeholders, and external partners to clarify reporting needs, prepare and validate data, develop SQL-based workflows, and deliver business intelligence solutions that support decision-making.

This role combines business intelligence development, SQL-based data engineering, data validation, and healthcare analytics in a collaborative environment where accuracy, communication, and problem-solving matter.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with analysts, technical teams, and stakeholders to translate reporting requirements into usable BI solutions.
  • Build and maintain dashboards, reports, and visual analytics using Tableau, Amazon QuickSight, Power BI, or similar platforms.
  • Design reporting solutions that help stakeholders understand trends, performance, and operational outcomes.
  • Develop SQL-based data preparation and transformation processes to support reporting and analytics delivery.
  • Work with Microsoft SQL Server environments to ingest, stage, transform, validate, and organize structured and semi-structured data into reporting-ready datasets.
  • Support normalization and standardization of datasets that vary significantly in structure, naming conventions, layouts, and quality.
  • Develop repeatable SQL-based processes for deduplication, reconciliation, validation, and transformation of large datasets.
  • Use T-SQL, stored procedures, reusable SQL logic, and parameter-driven processes to support repeatable reporting workflows.
  • Create data quality checks to identify missing values, duplicates, invalid records, inconsistent formats, unexpected trends, and source-to-target mismatches.
  • Support movement of data from raw or staged formats into structured reporting tables, warehouse models, or analytics-ready datasets.
  • Translate business rules and reporting definitions into accurate SQL transformation logic.
  • Troubleshoot data discrepancies, failed loads, report issues, and dashboard performance problems.
  • Support testing and validation before reports, dashboards, or data outputs are delivered.
  • Maintain documentation describing data lineage, transformations, validation checks, key joins, workflow steps, and reporting definitions.
  • Communicate technical findings clearly to both technical and nontechnical audiences.
  • Manage multiple reporting and data projects simultaneously while maintaining quality and accuracy.

Data Environment

The work may involve healthcare and operational data sources such as:

  • Medical claims

  • Enrollment and eligibility data
  • Provider, member, or patient-related records
  • Clinical or laboratory data
  • EHR/EMR-derived data
  • Survey or review data
  • Registry data
  • Operational or financial data
  • Quality and compliance-related reporting data

Required Background

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical, quantitative, analytics, healthcare informatics, computer science, information systems, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience building BI reports, dashboards, or visual analytics solutions.
  • 3+ years of experience working with ETL or data transformation processes.
  • 3+ years of experience working with data warehouses, reporting databases, or structured analytics data models.
  • Strong hands-on SQL experience, preferably in a Microsoft SQL Server environment.
  • Experience gathering and documenting business and technical reporting requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to validate data before it is used in reporting.
  • Ability to explain technical logic and data issues clearly.

Preferred Experience

  • Healthcare analytics, claims, eligibility, clinical data, quality reporting, Medicaid, Medicare, or payer/provider reporting environments.
  • Experience working with large structured datasets.
  • Experience building repeatable validation processes or data quality checks.
  • Experience documenting source-to-target mappings, business rules, and transformation logic.
  • Experience working in regulated, compliance-driven, healthcare, insurance, government, or research-focused environments.

Ideal Background

You have experience preparing, validating, transforming, documenting, and visualizing complex data for reporting or analytics purposes.

You are comfortable working through messy or inconsistent data, identifying gaps in requirements, validating results before delivery, and creating reporting solutions stakeholders can trust.

You combine strong SQL and data transformation skills with practical dashboard development experience, analytical curiosity, attention to detail, and strong communication skills.

Not the Right Fit

  • You only build dashboards from data someone else already prepared.
  • You have limited SQL experience.
  • You have not worked with ETL, data loads, or reporting databases.
  • You are heavily focused on Python but lack strong SQL, ETL, and BI delivery experience.
  • You struggle communicating technical concepts or gathering requirements from stakeholders.
  • You prefer narrowly defined tasks and are uncomfortable working through ambiguous data or reporting requests.
