As a Senior Civil Engineer at our client, you will serve as a technical advisor on an engineering team while designing technical solutions on land development for institutional, retail and commercial building projects. You are responsible for interpreting, organizing, executing and coordinating the work of complex projects under minimal supervision.

You should have the ability to independently perform detailed civil land development design. Your technical skills should show an awareness of effective design and the ability to design and provide site design for maximum efficiency. You should possess exceptional oral and written communication expertise including skills in presentation and negotiation of critical issues.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

  • Responsible for the civil engineering design of institutional, retail, multi-family housing and commercial building projects.
  • Prepare engineering analysis of projects to include: preliminary design, budget analysis, and system selection.
  • Generate civil construction documents including site demolition plans, erosion and sediment control plans, horizontal control plans, grading and drainage plans, utility plans and associated details.
  • Review the development of designs for compliance with applicable codes, adopted engineering standards and good engineering practices.
  • Investigate non-routine code compliance issues and make determinations of code interpretations consistent with local authorities having jurisdiction.
  • Research and analyze data such as client design proposals, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application.
  • Develop and manage project scope, budgets, schedules, QA/QC reviews and client expectations ensuring that cost, customer service, quality, schedule and safety are incorporated into the design from commencement through completion.
  • Review complete project documents for conformity and quality assurance.
  • Prepare and keep current a business plan and strategy for supporting all company projects with inhouse civil engineering unless there is a business reason, lack of specific expertise or capacity issue that would direct the project to an out of house resource.
  • Be responsible for growing the civil engineering team to whatever size is required to support company projects with the goal of having a minimum of two civil engineering employees to provide redundancy and long-term leadership succession.
  • Construction administration including review of submittals, response to RFI’s, and coordination with contractors, design team, building officials, owner, etc. through the construction phase of the building project.
  • Perform field observations of civil related items, attend meetings, and make recommendations for design solutions.
  • Produce effective and accurate written documents, reports, and technical memorandums.
  • Communicate and coordinate with architects, owners, other engineering disciplines, vendors, consultants, etc. throughout the design phases of the building project.
  • Meet client schedules as well as internal design and construction administration time budgets.
  • Coordinate the activities of engineers, technicians and engineers in training.

 REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Registration and designation as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Idaho or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
  • A minimum of 8 years of professional experience in civil land development design.
  • Engineering Project Management experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
