D365 Architect – Finance (Remote)

We are seeking an experienced Senior Business Systems Analyst – D365 Functional Finance Architect to lead the design, configuration, and implementation of D365 Finance solutions that optimize financial and business processes. This role emphasizes functional expertise, architecture, and in-depth accounting knowledge, particularly in multi-entity and complex financial environments. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to architect solutions aligned with financial, compliance, and business objectives.

This is a remote role with travel to one of multiple U.S. offices, roughly once per month.  

Key Responsibilities:

• Financial Solution Architecture: Lead the functional architecture of financial solutions within Dynamics 365 Finance, from requirements gathering to deployment. Conduct detailed fit-gap analyses to determine customizations and define accounting rules, journal entries, debits/credits, and transaction flows for seamless integration across entities. Collaborate with development teams on integrations with third-party systems (like NetSuite).
• Accounting Process Optimization: Apply extensive knowledge in core accounting areas such as General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, Cash Management, and Project Accounting to streamline financial processes. Ensure that financial modules are optimized for compliance with GAAP, IFRS, and revenue recognition practices, balancing automation with necessary manual controls.
• End-to-End Solution Delivery: Oversee the lifecycle of finance-related projects, from requirements gathering through post-implementation support. Collaborate closely with solution architects, business analysts, and leadership to ensure that all solutions are strategically aligned, scalable, and compliant. Address both technical and functional requirements, ensuring cohesive and seamless integration across modules.
• Reporting and Analytics: Design and deliver complex financial reports using tools such as D365 Management Reporter and Power BI, building custom rows, columns, and dimensions for tailored financial insights. Work with finance and audit teams to ensure data integrity and develop comprehensive operational dashboards that serve multi-entity requirements.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as the functional liaison between finance, operations, and IT, effectively translating business requirements into technical specifications. Partner with development teams on technical patterns, focusing on functional design for accounting, tax compliance, and financial reporting modules to enhance interdepartmental workflows.
• Mentorship and Training: Mentor junior finance analysts and provide guidance to functional teams to maximize the use of D365 Finance. Conduct training sessions and workshops to empower teams to efficiently use D365’s capabilities and stay informed on best practices in finance and functional architecture.

Key Qualifications:

• Extensive Dynamics 365 Finance Experience: Proven track record of designing, configuring, and deploying D365 Finance modules, especially in multi-entity setups. Must have in-depth experience with General Ledger, Accounts Payable/Receivable, Cash Management, Fixed Assets, and Budgeting.
• Financial Acumen and Compliance Knowledge: Deep understanding of accounting principles, financial regulatory compliance (GAAP, IFRS, SOX), and complex financial processes. Experience ensuring that system configurations adhere to regulatory requirements and internal audit standards, particularly around multi-entity consolidations.
• Advanced Reporting Capabilities: Skilled in D365’s Management Reporter, with the ability to design and customize complex financial reports. Proficiency with Power BI to develop analytics solutions and data-driven insights, supporting finance teams with relevant operational and financial dashboards.
• Project Management and Solution Delivery: Experience managing end-to-end projects within D365 Finance, including project planning, stakeholder alignment, and project lifecycle management. Familiarity with Agile methodologies, including experience with tools like Azure DevOps, is a plus.
• Integration and System Architecture: Familiarity with integrating D365 Finance with other enterprise applications (e.g., CRM systems, legacy ERP platforms). Knowledge of Microsoft’s integration tools, such as the Data Management Framework and Azure Logic Apps, to facilitate smooth data flow between systems.
• Technical Proficiency: While the role is primarily functional, familiarity with Microsoft’s technology stack—including Power Platform and Azure services—will support collaborations with technical architects on implementation patterns.
• Strong Communication and Collaboration Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders across finance, operations, and IT. Proven experience translating complex functional requirements into clear technical specifications and collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve seamless project delivery.
• D365 Finance Certifications: Microsoft certifications in Dynamics 365 Finance, such as Finance Functional Consultant Associate, are preferred.
