Associate Attorney

Empower Associates

A litigation-focused law firm is seeking attorneys with insurance defense experience who are interested in advancing their careers and working toward a future leadership or partnership track. The practice involves defending complex professional liability and long-term care matters while representing large healthcare organizations, medical facilities, long-term care providers, and other institutional entities, along with entertainment venues and public sector organizations.

Attorneys in this environment play an active role in litigation and courtroom proceedings rather than solely managing files. Strong performers are given opportunities to advance, cultivate client relationships, and eventually supervise teams that may include associates, paralegals, and legal support staff.

Responsibilities

  • Perform legal research and manage discovery processes while reviewing and evaluating medical and employment documentation.

  • Appear regularly for court proceedings, depositions, and case-related meetings.

  • Maintain communication with clients and provide ongoing case updates and status reporting.

Qualifications

  • 3–5+ years of experience in insurance defense.

  • Litigation background with exposure to trial work.

  • Experience handling matters involving excessive force or constitutional claims is considered advantageous.

  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.

  • Capable of working both independently and collaboratively within a legal team.

Compensation & Benefits

At this time, all newly hired attorneys are eligible for a $5,000 signing bonus. The firm offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package, including performance-based and billing-related incentives along with annual compensation reviews.

Attorneys benefit from flexible office scheduling with no formal cap on vacation days. While the position supports some remote work flexibility, most attorneys spend time working in the office.
