  • Base Salary: $110,000 – $165,000, DOE

  • Annual Performance Bonus: $25,000+

  • Minimum Experience: 2+ years

About the Role

Our client, a well-established litigation firm in the Phoenix metropolitan area with decades of trial experience, is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its insurance defense practice. The firm represents carriers, businesses, professionals, healthcare entities, and individuals in complex civil disputes. This is a full-time, in-office opportunity offering meaningful courtroom exposure and hands-on case responsibility.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a docket of civil litigation matters with an emphasis on insurance-related defense work.

  • Prepare and respond to pleadings, motions, and written discovery.

  • Conduct legal research and draft memoranda, dispositive motions, and case evaluations.

  • Take and defend depositions; attend hearings, mediations, and settlement conferences.

  • Develop litigation strategy in collaboration with senior attorneys.

  • Communicate directly with clients, adjusters, and opposing counsel regarding case progress and resolution options.

  • Negotiate settlements and represent clients in court proceedings when necessary.

  • Exposure to public entity or governmental liability matters is advantageous.


Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in civil litigation, ideally within insurance defense.

  • Background handling business-related disputes or governmental liability claims is a plus.

  • Strong analytical, research, and writing abilities.

  • Effective negotiation and advocacy skills.

  • Ability to manage deadlines and perform in a fast-paced litigation environment.

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school (Doctor of Law).

  • Active membership and good standing with the Arizona State Bar.

  • Prior trial experience is preferred but not required.

  • Familiarity with procedural rules and courtroom practice in Arizona state courts.

  • Strong client-facing communication skills.

  • Ability to independently manage cases while collaborating within a team structure.

  • Organized, detail-focused, and deadline-driven.
