Senior Accountant

We are seeking a Senior Accountant within a cash-rich, employee-owned mid-sized manufacturing company under exceptional leadership. The Senior Accountant position is a onsite role based in Garden Grove, CA. Reporting to the Accounting Manager and collaborating with the Director of Accounting and other senior/management accounting staff, this Senior Accountant will have the following job duties:
- Manage month-end closing procedures, including journal entries, reconciliation of balance sheet accounts, variance analysis, preparation of cash flow statements, and other financial reporting tasks.
- Enhance the cash conversion cycle by influencing days sales outstanding, inventory turnover, and days payables outstanding. Monitor internal controls for order-to-cash and procurement-to-pay processes.
- Establish and optimize standard operating procedures, focusing on simplification and standardization. Collaborate with the accounting and local operations teams for implementation.
- Partner with business and corporate FP&A teams to drive improvements in rolling forecasting and budgeting processes.
- Analyze customer and job profitability by comparing actuals to estimates and standards, driving pricing and operational enhancements.
- Provide insights on margin improvement efforts to operations teams, focusing on scrap reduction, cost of quality, labor efficiency, and inventory management.
- Support month-end and year-end inventory control processes, including physical counts, inventory valuation, and reserves for lower of cost or net realizable value, excess, and obsolescence.
- Collaborate with operations team on capital approval requests, conducting return on investment analyses and post-mortem project reviews.
- Work independently and in teams, effectively communicating with internal and external partners to resolve conflicts and facilitate smooth operations.
- Support external audit and tax preparation by ensuring accurate documentation and addressing inquiries promptly.
- Mentor and train junior staff members, fostering their professional growth and providing guidance.
- Provide administrative support to both local and corporate teams as needed.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in general accounting, ideally with exposure to inventory in manufacturing
- BS degree in accounting (CPA preferred but not required)
- Extensive general ledger reconciliation experience
- Working experience within ERP system (Great Plains or similar and implementation experience preferred)
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
- Analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
- MS Excel skills – pivot tables, vlookup, etc.
- Cost accounting in manufacturing preferred
