International Logistics Manager- Plainfield, NJ

Responsibilities and Duties:

The International Logistics Manager will be responsible for managing all activity to develop and execute the global logistics strategy. You will lead initiatives for evaluating supply chain distribution models, negotiating operational and transportation budget, and assisting the staff in regulatory guidance. The role will include overseeing and coordinating the activities of delivering shipments by air, ocean, or ground.

·         Work with cross functional teams and high-level management to assist in all aspects of analyzing, planning, strategizing global operation initiatives

·         Provide procedural guidance in resolving complex import, export related issues

·         Manage and maintain compliance files and records in accordance with U.S. regulations

·         Respond to U.S. Customs or other Government inquiries

·         Review, audit, and implement appropriate import and export procedures/SOPs and transport providers, as well as review relevant contracts for required clauses and compliance

·         Manage budget for direct staff and transportation suppliers. Responsible for determining budget inputs for various program proposals

·         Interface with customs brokers, customs (CBP) officers, suppliers, customers, foreign and domestic freight forwarders, 3rd party logistics providers as well as other contacts as necessary to ensure full compliance of our import and export activities

·         Comply and manage import and export records related to  Custom Bonds, denied party screenings, and Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classification determinations

·         Conduct periodic departmental training and auditing for import/export compliance


·         Assign and maintain correct US HTS and FDA product classifications

·         Determine global transportation, warehousing, and fulfillment strategies to ensure service levels are met, customer satisfaction expectations are exceeded, and value proposition is delivered all internal and external customers.

Minimum Requirements:

·         Bachelor’s degree required. Preferred degrees include Supply Chain, Operations Management, or related field. In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, four years of additional experience may be counted to meet this requirement.

·         5 years of relevant experience in either Freight/Logistics and Import/Export with experience in regulations

Preferred Qualifications:

·         Broker’s license preferred

·         5+years in Freight/Logistics field with strong preference for experience in aerospace equipment industry or other complex, high-mix, low-volume products

·         7+ years in International Import/Export field with strong experience in regulatory compliance

·         2+ years in direct leadership experience

·         Customs Brokerage knowledge

·         Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects, effective project planning in terms of resources, strategies, cost, and time with the ability to meet project timelines

·         Strong business acumen, leadership, and people management skills

·         Good computer skills and metrics (Excel, Word, PP, etc.)

·         Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with success in working across organizations at all levels

·         A high degree of self-motivation and flexibility

·         RFQ, Contract and Rate Negotiation experience

·         Able to write effective policy and procedures

·         Strong analytical skills, able to break down data, analyze, create summaries and opportunities, and execute those opportunities
